News for 2007

The Zen Community hosted the first meeting of the "Coming Home" project for the purposes of supporting veterans and their families on Saturday, January 27, 2007 at the Zen Community of Oak Park.

Paul Mokuin Levy received the precepts in a Jukai ceremony at the Zen Community of Oak Park on Monday, February 19. His dharma name, Mokuin means "Silent Seal".

Rev. Robert Joshin Althouse married David Pyle and Sandy Jo Loiseau-Vonruff at the Zen Community of Oak Park on April 1, 2007.

Robert Dainei Lund received the precepts in a Jukai ceremony at the Zen Community of Oak Park on Sunday, April 29. His dharma name, Dainei means "Great Peace".

Dr. Jeanne Douglas, director of the Oak Park Vet Center gave a presentation to the Coming Home Project at the Zen Community on Saturday, April 28, 2007.

Anne Hogetsu (Dharma Moon) received Jukai on July 1, 2007 at Zen Community of Oak Park from Rev. Robert Joshin Althouse.

Jill Teiho Wagner received Shukke Tokudo from Rev. Joshin Althouse, Sensei on August 19, 2007 at the Daifukuji Soto Mission on Island of Hawaii.

On September 2, 2007, a Shared Stewardship Circle met and picked the temple name for the Zen Community of Oak Park. The new temple name is now "Empty Sound Temple".

John Cloud Gate Stoner received Jukai on September 16, 2007 at the Zen Community of Oak Park from Rev. Robert Joshin Althouse.

Rev. Robert Kyosei Joshin Eagle Mountain Althouse is installed on October 13, 2007 as Abbot of the Zen Community of Oak Park - Empty Sound Temple by Rev.
