at Zen Community
Inner Disarmament
Practice Group, Saturday, July 29 at 1 pm
This monthly practice group is open to anyone wishing
to practice the skills taught in the Inner Disarmament workshops.
These skills include Nonviolent Communication and the Three Tenets
of a Peacemaker. The practice of empathic listening skills is
the focus of this group.
The practice group is open to everyone and is free,
but donations are always appreciated
Four-Part Class Series on
Inner Disarmament at Zen Community
Mondays from 7:00-9:00 pm, August 7, 14, 21 and 28
Robert Althouse will lead this training on the
practice of Inner Disarmament. The classes will introduce basic
communication skiils of Nonviolent Communication as well how
to practice the Three Tenets of a Peacemaker. Specific lanugage
skills are presented and practiced in the class through role
plays and experiential exercies.
Cost for Series: is $75/$60
for ZCOP members, $25 per class/$20 for ZCOP members

Entering the Way: Zen Practice I
What is Zen? How do you practice Zen meditation?
How do you make it a part of your daily life? How do non-Buddhist practice Zen?
- A two-hour class offered once a month on a Sunday: 8
am to 10 am
- Instruction on how to sit Zen meditation: posture, breath,
mind
- Short meditation practice followed by questions and answers
- Includes free follow up visits to Zen Community for a month
following your class
- Includes one private interview with Joshin Sensei
- Attire is casual, but do not wear shorts or clothing with
logos, words or messages on them.
- Pre-registration required - cost: $25 (tax deductible)

Refining Your Life:
Zen Practice 2
What is Zen training? Why is it important?
Why is the teacher-student
relationship important in Zen training? What is a zen retreat
and how do you participate in one? How can you get more involved?
This class will give newcomers more guidance and support.
- A two-hour class offered once a month on a Sunday: 8 am
-10 am
- Procedures for practicing together at Zen Community
- How to do services, retreats and one day practice periods
- Teacher-student relationship
- Includes two private interviews with Joshin Sensei
- Pre-requisite: Zen Practice 1

Integral Spiritual Studies
This is a series of classes open to everyone.
These classes will use "Integral Spirituality" by
Ken Wilber as a study text. They will cover basic aspects
of integral studies such as the AQAL model of all quadrants,
all levels, all lines, all states and all types. The class
will appreciate both non-dual and theistic traditions and
their respective strengths and weaknesses.
- Cost: $60 series, $25/class - (ZCOP members: $40 for series,
